States Rights - some states have it right….

Posted on August 31, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

Oklahoma no longer OK for Illegal Aliens

Oklahoma’s Governor Brad Henry has signed a sweeping immigration Reform bill:

House Bill 1804 that its sponsor believes will go a long way in dealing with the illegal alien problem in the state.

House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The measure’s sponsor, State Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegal; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

Oklahoma is no longer “O.K .” for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. “When you put everything together in context,” he contends, “the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won’t stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they’re deported. And that’s exactly what House Bill 1804 does.”

The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb the illegal immigration problem in the state. “I would remind people that states are separate sovereigns in our federal system,” Terrill points out. “Anyone who doesn’t understand that needs to go back and take an American federal government class in college,” he says.

As a result of that sovereignty, the Oklahoma lawmaker insists, “we have as much right - in fact, I could argue, a responsibility - to protect our tax payers against that sort of egregious waste, fraud and abuse as the federal government should have a responsibility to protect that international border, but doesn’t do that.”

Terrill says as long as the federal government refuses to do its job of protecting the international borders of the United States, states like Oklahoma must take action to deal with the problem that is costing taxpayers in the state $200 million a year in public benefits, law enforcement costs, and other resources.

14 GOOD REASONS TO DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year.

$2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

$12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

$17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

$90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

$200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the United States

During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the U. S. from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report:
and

The National Policy Institute “estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.”

In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.

“The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants in the United States “.

So using the LOWEST estimates, the annual cost OF ILLEGAL ALIENS is $338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR! So if deporting them costs between $206 and $230 BILLION DOLLARS, Start getting rid of em’. We’ll be ahead after the 1st year!!!

UPDATE!
And here is what many consider the best reason for ridding the country of these scumbags:
11 year-old girl shoots two home intruders.
Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower a home-alone, eleven-year-old Patricia Harrington, after her father had left their two story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana, and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine. Patricia was in her upstairs bedroom when the two men broke through the front door of the house.

She quickly ran to her father’s room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buck shot from the girl’s knee crouch aim.

He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen .45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. The victim, 50 year old David Burien, was not so lucky as he died from stab wounds to the chest.

Patricia staved off a robbery and potential rape because her parents taught her how to use a gun. Her parents didn’t just hide a gun in the house and not educate her on the power that a firearm provides.

“Abscam” Jack Murtha being sued

Posted on August 31, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

Personally - I’d prefer a more final remedy.

You’ll recall when the whole Haditha, Iraq affair came to light (the MSM was right on top of any story to defame our Servicemen … as long as they’re not DimmocRATs) , this piece of shit EX Marine Murtha came out publically - before any trial - and said point blank the accused Marines were “guilty of murder - cold blooded murder - of innocent women and children.”

Well, as in most things, shithead is wrong once again.

Three of the eight Marines charged have already had all charges against them dismissed, and the third is expected to have charges against him dismissed any day now under recommendations filed by the chief investigating officer.

Now one of the officers accused of “cold blooded murder” by Murtha on national TV has filed an intent to sue Murtha personally for defamation, and he should prevail. Naturally the lefties are already scheming for ways to protect Murtha from lawsuits, but sorr, clowns - that ain’t gonna happen. You see, it is true Congresscritters are protected from legal action for comments made In Congress sessions - but no such protection applies to statements made outside of Congress. Murtha is such an asshole - or believes he is above the law - that he made some of these charges on television. Ooops! Want to see? Sure!

It’s long past time that this piece of shit is dumped on his fat, traitorous ass. What his constituents in Pennsylvania are thinking by re-electing this clown is beyond my ability to comprehend. Oh wait … it’s not about his being a traitor - it’s about the federal money he delivers. That, apparently, is all these nitwits care about.

Hitlary is back to her old tricks again!

Posted on August 30, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

Those wonderful Dims and their “culture of corruption” charges against Republicans are appearing very weak in light of the shenanigans already brought to light in this Congress. Hitlary? Well shit - what would you expect? Her husband sold out the country to get illegal contributions from the Chinese government, and the machinations of the “Bill and Hillary Show” beginning with the Governorship of Arkansas and ending with the looting of the White House are well known to anyone with an ouch of brains (moonbats specifically excluded here).

So now the “Most evil woman in the world” is taking up where her hubby left off - illegal campaign contributions, by some of the same people.

His name is Hsu, and surprise! - he’s a convicted felon and fugitive from justice for over 10 years, The justice department has been looking for him - apparently without success because he’s still on the lam. maybe they should have just asked the Clintons?

So this is the second (so far) case brought to light concerning illegal contributions to her campaign. Note that word … ILLEGAL contributions. Not that has ever stopped the Clinton’s before. I mean - we sort of expect such things by now, don’t we?

Anyway … WorldNet Daily (linked) has the story in detail

UPDATE!

WorldNet daily has another piece of Hitlary’s habit of collecting funds from questionable sources . And still more on Clinton and the Dims “Culture of Corruption” , , , and

Top Clinton Aide Deep in Soros Campaign Scandal

Some may remember earlier this month the AFP broke a story about some rag-hag who claimed her house was shot at by those nasty American troops trying and dying to save their useless asses in that pile of sand known as Iraq. To make her case, she was photoed displaying 2 “bullets” she said she recovered from inside her house - such as it is.

As I and other commented on the original story - what she displayed were not “bullets”, but in fact were brand spanking new, unfired, cartridges - which are what bullets exit upon being fired. Kinda of a big difference, and one that a reporter alleging to tell the story of Iraq should know, I suspect.

Apparently they didn’t, so The Dissident Frogman (linked) put together a positively nifty video to explain the situation to those and others claiming to know what the fuck is going on over there.

Just check out:)

And speaking of that waste of oxygen and common gangsta thug Michael Vick … (we weren’t? Oh - we are now then) … InstaPunk has a good story on that subject. Interesting take.

That’s

Finally … this message has probably been all over the world by now, but I think it bears repeating … because SOME assholes out there (are ya listening, Congress-critters?) either forgot it or don’t want to hear it. Bullshit - here it is anyway…. I Don’t Care!

“Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?

Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation’s capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn’t they?

And I’m supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was “desecrated” when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?…Well, I don’t. I don’t care at all.

I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia

I’ll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I’ll care when the cowardly so-called “insurgents” in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I’ll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don’t care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don’t care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don’t care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed “special” food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being “mishandled,” you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don’t care.

And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled “Koran” and other times “Quran.” Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and - you guessed it - I don’t care!!

One last thought for the day: In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England ’s Prime Minister Tony Blair’s words during a recent interview.

When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:
“A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in… And how many want out.”

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Hillary shows her real agenda - keep the POWER!

Posted on August 28, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

Last week Hitlary pitched a hissy fit that put her true colors on display for the world to see - speaking of how another terrorist attack in the US would “help the Republicans” in the coming national elections. Yup - that’s what it’s all about to these liberal scumbags - POWER - keeping it and getting more. Unfortunately - but not unexpectedly - the MSM gave her the usual pass. They didn’t count on Jackie Mason, apparently. Thanks to Ace at Ace of Spades for this link.

And while on the subject of Hitlary … HOTAIR has a piece about some interesting goings on with the Hitlary fundraising organization. No surprise there either - the same people were big contributors to her husband. The MSM’s take? Yawn … no story there.

Hyp·o·crite, noun.
1. A person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. A person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

While on one of my favorite 2nd Amendment forums this morning I tumbled on a link to another forum for California residents to discuss firearms issues in their state. Looking around there, I found a link to another blog. On it, the owner had a story about Hollywood “tough guy” (all 5′-6″ of him) Sylvester Stallone - a well-known gun control advocate. Well guess what … turns out ‘Ole Sly is another of those “do what I say - not what I do”, “laws are for the common folk - not us STARS” type. Ain’t that somethin’? I mean - I was incredulous - a BMIH (Big Man in Hollywood) who is a hypocrite! Could have knocked me over with a feather. A feather I tell you! Could it be? Could ‘Ole John Rambo be a …horrors … for real GUN OWNER? Not only that, but a gun owner with a permit to carry a concealed handgun?

Well, take this to Davids blog and read for yourself! And a big “thanks” to David for permission to link to his investigation. A great job of persistence there!

Immigration Petition Gutsy New TV Ads

Tell Presidential Candidates You Agree With Ads and Want Less Foreign Worker Importation

A large coalition of groups is running this TV ad in every region of the country through Labor Day and beyond. The ad includes a brief clip of the outrageous training conference in which a law firm teaches businesses how to avoid hiring American workers so they can import more foreign workers.

All of the presidential candidates will give lip service to American workers and their families on this coming holiday. But nearly all of them are making no promises to correct these abuses or to reduce the massive flow of foreign workers that has been depressing the wages of—and even taking the jobs away from—American workers. In fact, most of the candidates support increasing the flow of foreign labor competition.

More than 27 million jobs in the U.S. are now held by foreign workers while 54 million working-age Americans don’t have a job.

Isn’t it time to tell candidates that they can’t expect American votes if they constantly choose immigration policies that are against the interests of the American workers?

Let’s create a mountain of petitions as fast as possible to deliver to the presidential candidates’ campaign offices. Please sign the petition and then have this email forwarded to as many contacts as possible.

Gee … I wonder …… Now keep in mind that Chertoff’s (DHS Director) name is currently being floated around Washington as the replacement for Gonzales (there we go again) at Justice. Is it fair to ask … “Hey George … what the FUCK are you thinking!?” I think so.

Border Patrol chief rejects mission against aliens, drugs
August 26, 2007

By Sara A. Carter - Washington Times - A Border Patrol chief at one of the nation’s most dangerous Southwest border crossings says the agency’s mission doesn’t include apprehending illegal aliens or seizing narcotics — perplexing front-line agents and angering a congressional critic of illegal immigration.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,” Carlos X. Carrillo, Border Patrol chief of Laredo, Texas, told guests at a town-hall meeting Thursday. “The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop narcotics. … The Border Patrol’s mission is not to stop criminals.

“The Border Patrol’s mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country.”

Law-enforcement agencies consider Laredo to be one of the Southwest’s most dangerous border crossings. It is the sister city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, which is controlled by one of that country’s most ruthless drug-smuggling rings.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, called for Mr. Carrillo’s resignation Friday. He also questioned how the recently appointed official could tell the difference between an illegal alien and a terrorist.

“If the Border Patrol has developed a new technology that can distinguish between terrorists and other illegal border crossers without first catching them and checking them out, that is good news,” said Mr. Tancredo, an outspoken critic of illegal immigration and a presidential candidate. “But if that is not the case, Mr. Carrillo’s statements are extremely irresponsible and demoralizing to officers in the field.”

T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing 12,000 front-line agents, said he was baffled by the Laredo chief’s statements.

“It is shocking that such a high-ranking official would make a statement that is so completely at odds with the law and the Border Patrol’s mission,” Mr. Bonner said. “It is equally disturbing that no one at a higher level has taken any steps to reassure employees and the public that the Border Patrol will continue to intercept all illicit traffic that it encounters.

“The failure to do so has caused more than a few front-line agents to nervously wonder if the mission has indeed changed, and if they will face punishment for apprehending illegal aliens or drugs,” he said.

The Border Patrol’s mission has been at the center of debates within the agency since the September 11 attacks.

If “Mr. Carrillo’s remarks represent a new mission statement not yet published by the Department of Homeland Security, then Secretary [Michael] Chertoff needs to come up to Capitol Hill and explain this new mission, because it seems suicidal to me,” Mr. Tancredo said.

David Aguilar, head of the Border Patrol, defended Mr. Carrillo and said his comments were taken out of context.

“Our mission is to protect our country’s borders from all threats,” Mr. Aguilar said. “Our highest priority is keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering our country.

“We have never, nor will we ever, decrease or minimize our aggressive efforts in enforcing the rule of law.”

Laredo was the site of many congressional hearings over illegal aliens last year. The World Trade Bridge — a major crossing between Nuevo Laredo and Laredo — is used by Mexican cartels smuggling narcotics to as far north as Canada.

Law-enforcement officials testified before Congress last year that the Border Patrol needs to focus on Nuevo Laredo because it is Mexico’s largest inland port and is a major point of origin for truck traffic into the United States.

“If the Border Patrol is no longer trying to stop illegal entry into our country, border states will have to set up their own border police to halt this flow,” Mr. Tancredo said. “I think this will be news to the governors in Texas, Arizona, California and a dozen states on the northern border.”

Oops … no more stars for you, General!

General rips Iran as Iraq foe

By Sara A. Carter August 25, 2007

Army Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch reacted yesterday to Virginia Republican Sen. John W. Warner’s call for a small pullout of some troops from Iraq by calling the idea a “giant step backward.”

A top Army commander in Iraq yesterday said Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is trying to disrupt U.S. military gains by ramping up weapons and training support for radical Shi’ite groups.

“We are up against a new wave of lethality sponsored by the enemies of the people of Iraq and its government,” said Army Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, commander of a division in central Iraq.

He emphasized that withdrawing troops from Iraq would be a “giant step backward” — a day after Republican Sen. John W. Warner of Virginia recommended a basically symbolic pullout of some troops by Christmas.

President Bush with National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell

President Bush’s top intelligence aide has confirmed that Iraqi terrorists have been captured coming into the United States from Mexico.

The confirmation comes from National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell, who talked about the situation in an interview with the El Paso Times recently.

“Coming up through the Mexican border is a path,” McConnell said. “Now, are they doing it in great numbers? No, because we’re finding them and we’re identifying them and we’ve got watch lists and we’re keeping them at bay.”

But, he said, “There are numerous situations where people are alive today because we caught them (terrorists).”

Mandatory deportation has illegals on the run
State law limiting benefits looms, an estimated 25,000 take to road

The state of Oklahoma recently approved a new law that requires deportation for illegal aliens who are arrested, and limits benefits and jobs to those individuals. The report said in East Tulsa, where a community of Hispanics has grown over recent years, there’s been a sudden drop in population.

Arellano: It’s America’s Fault

August 23, 2007 by Bob Parks

When you repeatedly break a nation’s laws and you finally get busted, it’s everyone’s fault but your own. Just ask the dearly-deported Elvira Arellano….

Aug. 22, 2007. Elvira Arellano speaks to the Mexican Congress about her deportation from the United States. Elvira claims the U.S. broke that law first by ‘allowing’ illegal immigrants to pay taxes.

So, it’s all our fault. Funny how that always reoccurs.

Remember Ms. Arellano’s “gratitude” (emphasis added) when we allow people like her to cross our border illegally (in her case twice), tap into social programs designed for citizens, take American jobs, send a portion of their wages south, commit a variety of serious crimes and fill up our jails, flaunt their illegality in our faces with mass protests, and then blame us for allowing them to do all this in the first place.

And then ask them what the Mexican government does to people who illegally?

And what does Ann have to say? on and laugh…

Gotta love it

Iraqi Killed Saving U.S. Troops

Military.com | August 23, 2007

An Iraqi man saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians when he intercepted a suicide bomber during a Concerned Citizens meeting in the town of al-Arafia Aug. 18.

The incident occurred while Soldiers from 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, were talking with members of the al-Arafia Concerned Citizens, a volunteer community group, at a member’s house.

“I was about 12 feet away when the bomber came around the corner,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Kane, of Los Altos, Calif., acting platoon sergeant of Troop B, 3-1 Cav. “I was about to engage when he jumped in front of us and intercepted the bomber as he ran toward us. As he pushed him away, the bomb went off.”

The citizen’s actions saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians.

LET’S ALL REFER TO GOD AS ALLAH

I know this is going to be hard for you to believe; but then again, maybe not. After all, we’re installing foot baths at airports for Muslim cab drivers and in some Eurabian schools they won’t even teach precious little Euroweenies about the Holocaust because they’re afraid that some peace-loving Muslims might get their precious little feelings hurt.

Enter, stage left, A Dutch Catholic Bishop by the name of Martinus Muskens. He thinks he has the perfect solution to calming the troubled waters between Muslims and Christians. It’s all very simple, really. Christians should just start referring to God as Allah!

Durn! Why didn’t we think of that? Yup .. that pretty much ought to do it all right. If we would just walk around referring to God as Allah, why then I’m sure everything would be all hunky dory within just a few weeks!

But while we’re busy changing the names of our churches to the So and So Church of Allah, maybe there’s a few things that our lovely peace-loving Muslims could do to meet us halfway.

Here are a few suggestions. Perhaps you could toss them around the next time y’all gather at the Mosque.

  • Present a clear and uncompromising rejection of that section of your Qaran which tells Muslims that when they encounter a Christian they must either kill him, enslave him or convert him. Some Christians are having trouble with this Islamic mandate. Having to chose between death, enslavement or conversion can really bring a Christian down.
  • Stop shooting school children in the back. When your Muslim buddies killed 186 school children in Beslan back in 2004 it somehow angered a lot of Christians. Perhaps you should try not to do that again. I mean, come on! Some of these children were shot in the back, for Allah’s sake, when they tried to run from those peace-loving Muslims! If you really want to practice your shoot-them-in-the-back skills, how about working on yourselves.
  • If one of your Muslim girl’s schools catches on fire, do you think you could find it in your hearts to let the girls escape, even if they don’t have time to put on head covering as they run from the flames? A lot of Christians read about that fire at the 31st Girls Middle School in Mecca in March of 2002. They read that the Saudi religious police, the Muttawa, actually prevented fire fighters and rescue personnel from entering the school because there were girls inside … girls dying inside. Then, when some of the girls tried to escape without head coverings, the Muslim Muttawa actually pushed them back into the burning building. Fourteen girls died that day. None needed to. Christians found this to be just a wee bit offensive. These girls died because of the intolerance of the peaceful religion of Islam. So .. do you think that you could lighten up a bit when the next school catches on fire?
  • About those honor killings. You may not understand this, but Christians do not believe that God … excuse me, I mean Allah … wants them to kill their daughters if they are raped. Christians have this odd tendency to actually comfort their daughters and to try to help the recover, emotionally and physically, from the attacks, and then finish things by trying to kill whoever raped their daughter, as Allah intended. Now if we’re going to refer to God as Allah, maybe you could stop killing your daughters. It’s just a suggestion. Killing daughters really does have a tendency to cut back on Muslim population growth, so it’s for your own good.
  • While we’re at it .. and I hope you don’t mind a few more suggestions .. could you please not refer to Jews as apes and pigs any more? It really makes them upset when a bunch of camel jockeys refer to them as apes and pigs.
  • If you get the sudden urge to fly any more airplanes into buildings in our country, try this: (A) select a building scheduled to be demolished. Las Vegas usually has an old casino or two they want to tear down. (B) Go out to the deserts of Arizona and find an old commercial airliner in mothballs. Use some of your oil money to buy it, and then you can paint all sort of Islamic slogans on the airplane … things like “Mohammed is my co-pilot.” (C) Fill the airplane with martyrs. You damned sure won’t be able to find any virgins in Vegas. (D) Make sure the building is empty. (E) Knock yourselves out.
  • And what about those suicide bombers! From coffee shops in Tel Aviv to flower shops in Baghdad to nightclubs in Bali. If you want to see the bodies of your sons and daughters scattered all over the landscape and plastered all over the walls, tell them to attack some American servicemen. Our men and women will fight back. In other words … come on out and fight like a man … not like some cowardly night crawler. Muhammed (or Mohammed or however you spell it) would be so embarrassed.
  • And while we’re talking about prophets, Jesus doesn’t seem to get torqued when Christians draw pictures of him … even when they make him look like Jeffrey Hunter. Could you calm down a bit when people draw a picture of what’s-his-name? It’s not like you’re being made to hang the picture in your house. Look …we even have little plastic Jesus thingies on the dashboards of some of our cars. Have you even given any thought to how much you could make with little plastic Mohammeds for those taxi drivers in Minneapolis? You know … the ones who don’t want to carry people with those little bottles of rum they’re bringing back from the Bahamas?
  • How about Darfur! Knock off the genocide stuff, how about it? You would be screaming bloody murder if someone tried to practice genocide against Muslims, wouldn’t you? In fact, hasn’t the United States stepped in and prevented just such a situation in the past? Some thanks we get.

Now I can think of a lot more … but this would be a start, wouldn’t it? We start calling God Allah, and you folks try to become just a little more warm and fuzzy. Come to think of it, you have the fuzzy thing covered. Work on warm.

How about it?

et tu, Ron Paul?

Posted on August 6, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

I’d LOVE to hear an explanation or excuses from the legions of Ron Paul crazies for the following - but something tells me I won’t.

Ron Paul’s Earmarks August 6, 2007 Page A12

Texas Congressman Ron Paul — libertarian gadfly and current Republican Presidential hopeful — has made a name for himself as a critic of overspending. But it seems even he can’t resist the political allure of earmarks.

After reporters started asking questions, the Congressman disclosed his requests this year for about $400 million worth of federal funding for no fewer than 65 earmarks. They include such urgent national wartime priorities as an $8 million request for the marketing of wild American shrimp and $2.3 million to fund shrimp-fishing research.

When we called Mr. Paul’s office for an explanation, his spokesperson offered up something worthy of pork legends Tom DeLay or Senator Robert C. Byrd: “Reducing earmarks does not reduce government spending, and it does not prohibit spending upon those things that are earmarked,” the spokesman said. “What people who push earmark reform are doing is they are particularly misleading the public — and I have to presume it’s not by accident.”

On the other hand, good libertarians should want to start cutting somewhere. The problem with earmarking is that each year the habit grows by leaps and bounds so that it now represents real money. It is also a gateway to political corruption — a la Duke Cunningham, and other Congressmen currently under investigation for trading favors for earmarks.

Mr. Paul is one of Congress’s better fiscal conservatives. So the fact that even he feels obliged to grab multiple earmarks is all the more reason to keep fighting for transparency in the earmark process, as well as for the line-item veto, which would give Presidents a chance to impose some spending discipline from outside Congress.

As I’ve said before … it doesn’t matter what party or person you’re talking about in Washington, they are all the same - hiding behind the vagaries of law (being lawyers, what would one expect?) - while professing “openness” and “reform”. Fuck the lot of them.

Marines in action

Posted on August 5, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

I got an email this morning from a good friend who is a Marine pilot (attack/cas) aboard a carrier I will not mention. You can decide for yourself where he is at present - it’s not classified - but I found this fascinating and humorous and thought I would pass it along for your enjoyment.

Well I finally just decided to write for a little bit every now and then and hope after a few days I might have something entertaining enough to end out. :) If any of you are communist or subversive… please disregard my email and delete… I really would not like to see it end up on CNN with a “Look what the Marines think” tag on it. Thank you very much. Hahaha.

Haven’t really emailed too much since we left India. Quick run down of the deployment so far, for those who missed the previews getting popcorn… (well, maybe not so quick but get over it!) You may want to print this one out now that I look back on it if you hate scrolling. hahaha.

We left San Diego, did not pass go… waved at Hawaii… waved at Guam… waved at the Philippines… and then eventually arrived in the Indian Ocean to support Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Honestly, I wish we could have stayed there the entire deployment. The coalition forces there run close air support very similar to the way the Marine Corps does. Got the chance to support some Dutch special forces believe it or not. As if secure radio communications wasn’t difficult enough… Stefan, eat it!)… now throw a guy on the other end of the radio speaking in English with a thick Dutch accent…. Wow. My wingman and I were talking on our other radio continually asking each other… did you get that? Where is he talking about? Later on after the flight when we debriefed… it was funny recapping the communication flow…. but at the time if there was any humor to the matter at all it disappeared quickly when the ground controller said with his Dutch accent… “hold on I take cover, we are taking fire”…Then hearing the impacts of the incoming Taliban rounds and the outgoing Dutch 30 millimeter took anything else that was funny out of the equation…… It took a Dutch Blackhawk helicopter coming in and hosing down some machine gun fire for us to finally say…. OOOHHH…. THAT spot! Got it. :) A couple of 500 pounders and several hundred rounds of 20 millimeter later… it was quiet again. I have to take my hat off to the Dutch… even when our controller’s unit was getting the heck shot out of their position… his voice didn’t change an octave. Pretty impressive. When it was over and they told us they did not take any casualties… then we could laugh a little on the way home about the English. :)

So after supporting Afghanistan…. we started heading to the Gulf to support Iraq… I left the ship to head to the lovely little garden tea pot called Qatar to be a liaison for 3 weeks. On the flight from the ship to Qatar, the C-2 Greyhound flew over Dubai… if you’ve read about the “islands” being built there with hotels and houses on them… we got to see them from the air…. UNBELIEVABLE! Even from 20 thousand feet you could make out the Palm Tree island and the island called “The world”…. Really amazing.

Anyway… so where was I…. QATAR…. Yes Qatar… where I’m planning on building a summer home… yes. 120 degrees on the flight line as we got out of the plane. Simply lovely! It wasn’t a bad three weeks though as long as you stayed inside…. Luckily, I was on the night shift so during most of the high heat… I was asleep. The good thing was we did get “beer ration cards”…. No, I’m not kidding. Little I.D. cards with all the days of the month that get a slash, slash, and then a circle on the appropriate day once you are complete with your three drinks. I tell you… it was a very complicated system…. Luckily, we had made friends with the British and Australian bartenders at the little officers club…. Being the silly Americans that we are…. Our cards continually had improper slashing…. Always professional and extremely conscious of protocol… the bartenders wanted to make sure the slashes on our beer cards were written correctly…. “Look mate… this slash is right out!!! you see, this is how a proper slash is written” (drawn on top of the incorrect one)…. After we received our counseling and were sent on our way back to darts… we were told to come back when we were ready to have our beer cards re-inspected again….. And wouldn’t you know it? Our slashes for some reason were NEVER correct…. Damn the luck! By the way…. NEVER go to the CANADIAN bartender!!! (I think they still think the United States is in
Prohibition) We quickly learned about that gouge and asked for ice water whenever we mis-timed our appearance at the bar. :) I think “THE Canadian” (as we referred to him) thinks Americans are the most hydrated people in the world… “No, I’m good man… just ice water for me”
hahaha.

Left Qatar and headed back to the floating tuna can for a brisk 10 degrees cooler weather in the North Arabian Gulf. And none of you sent me any scarves! Shame on you!

After a few weeks we left the Gulf and headed down to a little place I like to call Chennai, India. We even coined a new phrase for Websters…. “Chennaiahrea” Which can easily be substituted into the popular kid’s playground song…. Go ahead… Everybody! :)

Yeah… Chennai…. Wow. We knew we were in for a rough port call when we briefed on all the “planning” that went into it. Awesome.

Day one: liberty cancelled…. Seas to rough and one of the liberty ferries started sinking. Sweet. Day two: cancelled… seas still too rough and one of the barges from Singapore with freshwater on it never arrives… fantastic. Day three… open for liberty…. Wait, wait… female 19 year old sailor falls and sprains ankle trying to get to liberty ferry… liberty cancelled for safety. Nice job sweetheart. Only 4,800 people didn’t get off the ship today because you couldn’t say “I’m OK… just slipped a little”. Day three… finally get off the ship.

Now… I’ve experienced a few… what I consider to be pretty scary things in my life…. Car accident here and there…. People trying to kill you with motorboats on lake Havasu… Hilary Clinton announcing her run for president…. (Come on Kristin!!! Give me a little smile for that one!!! Hahaha) ………But let me tell you… nothing….. NOTHING…. Has ever put me in a sheer, unadulterated state of fear as the cab ride from the pier to the hotel.

Our C.O. and I got off the boat at the same time and were trying to catch up with the rest of the guys who had already made it to the hotel. As you get off the pier, you take a quick bus ride to the Chennai Stadium where you can catch “Tuk Tuks” to go to the hotels. This Tuk Tuk is a piece of work. It’s an open air three wheel little vehicle that looks like the illegitimate offspring of a motorcycle and New York cab. They can get up to about 45 miles per hour… after a good run.
Skipper and I decided that the “death” speed was probably around 20 if he hit anything… awesome. So off we go!!!!

In the back of my head I hear the line from The Princess Bride… “THE CLIFFS OF INSANITY!!!!!!!” No more than 3 seconds after we start our “run” to the hotel…. Car number 1 of 250 has a one foot left to left pass with us. Did I mention we were driving on the wrong side of the road??… no, I don’t mean like British versus American roads… I mean we are on the wrong FRIGGIN side of the road!!!

“Holy S%^&” became the well recited phrase of the evolution…. I must have missed the Indian drivers handbook class…. but it’s written in there, apparently, that a vehicle’s horn is to be used as often as one uses the brake and gas pedal. The other common expression the Skipper and I used along the way was… “there’s no way he’s going to make it through th…. AAAAHHHHHHHH” After 20 minutes of this… all conversation stopped and laughing that could rival Jack Nicholson’s in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest ensued for the remaining 10 minutes. During the few moments of peace along the road at traffic lights… we had time to catch our breath and enjoy some of the wonderful scenery… we saw a man urinating on the sidewalk next to the police station… mmm… a child brushing her teeth with the water by the curbside (hygiene first!)… ummm… the sewage treatment plant… oh wait, I mean river… umm… and I think that about covers the tourism portion. So we finally got to the hotel and The Tuk Tuk from Hell (popular Steven King novel) ride was over.

Ran upstairs… changed into swimsuit… went to pool… ordered beer… glass brought to Justin, beer brought to Justin, beer put in glass, 4000 flies arrive on scene. Beer placed on table, towel grabbed from rack, Justin back inside hotel. And that would be my outdoor experience in
Chennai.

Got to go to a reception hosted by the Indian Navy at their officers quarters that evening…. It was actually very nice. Every person I met in India (besides our Tuk Tuk driver) was extremely nice and friendly…. The service in the hotel and at the reception was First Class… everyone was very polite, cordial, and went out of their way to make sure you got everything you needed…. So at the reception, they brought out these trays of beers, drinks, and food that was actually pretty good. One officer brought my friend Simon Doran and I a couple of drinks…. Apparently they were the equivalent of American 151 proof rum…. They were not appreciated. :) We stuck to the beer after that. Now let me paint the scene for this next little story…. members present were me, Simon, a couple of our Navy buddies, and two Indian Navy officers…. I ask one of the Indians where he would go if we had one night to “enjoy” in Chennai… now before I give you his response… CAG walks over to our conversation… for those who don’t know… CAG is the Commanding Officer of all the squadrons in the Air Wing… Our CAG, Captain Woods, is great… we’re really lucky to have him… no, I’m not saying that in the event that this email is screened… hahaha… Now I need you to think of your best Indian accent from any Simpsons episode or any other thick Indian accent you can imagine for this guy’s reply….. So, CAG walks up… I ask the guy, Where would you go if you only have one night in Chennai” and he answers….. “I would go do naked hand stands!” ??????????????????????????? CAG looked at me and the rest of my cohorts, shook his head, and walked away.

Went back to the hotel to meet up with the rest of the squadron…. stayed at the bar there for the rest of the evening and called it a night. Spent the afternoon at the hotel and then headed back to the ship.

And then the biological warfare began.

Everyone seemed to be OK…. Got back on the ship the next evening… no problems… then MADNESS. No idea how much of the crew was affected… but needless to say… many of us were deliriously ill……. I personally had two liters of IV fluids pumped in by direction of our Flight Surgeon after I started claiming I was the King of England. Several drugs and hours of sweat filled sleep brought me back to a better state… or at least to the point where I was then claiming I was
the Queen of England… but hey, anything was improvement right? hahaha.

Left India… so very, very, very thankful for our lovely port of call.

Well…. This is already a novel and not much else to say about the rest of the deployment…. Left India, headed back to the Gulf for another couple of weeks… now we are off to better and bluer waters. :)

Hope everyone is doing well and that I didn’t bore you to tears with my senseless (and grammar-less) rambling. :) Hope to see you all soon.

Henry the V…. I mean, Justin

oo-RAH!

I guess I should have linked to this piece on Neal’s website, but he says things that I have been thinking for quite a while and does it so much better … so I’m just pasting it in. Since I’m giving due credit - I’m sure Neal won’t mind (you won’t, will you Neal?) Here it is, links and all …

GOOD NEWS IS BAD NEWS … FOR DEMOCRATS

House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn said a good report from Gen. Petraeus in Iraq in the House and make it difficult to pass a timetable to end the war. Democrats are going further to say that good news from Petraeus would actually be bad for our country.

Are you listening here? How long have I and other talk show hosts been telling you that Democrats are invested in failure in Iraq? Haven’t you heard us tell you day after day, ad nauseum, that good news in Iraq is bad news for Democrats? I can still hear the insults thrown my way by Democrats every time I actually said that the left was eagerly seeking bad news from Iraq, and dreading the good. Well, now you see it. They’re not hiding. There was good news from Iraq this week.

There may well be more good news from General Petraeus in September. That means more bad news for liberals.

Democrats are showing us with their every word and grimace that what is good news for our country, what is good news for the war against Islamic terror, what is god news for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and what is good news for the cause of peace – real peace – and stability in the Middle East is bad news, really bad news, for Democrats. Many of these people with that “D” after their names would gladly sacrifice any semblance of victory in Iraq and against the scourge of Islamic fascism if it would mean maintaining and strengthening their hold on power in Washington.. and willing the presidency.

Has there ever before been a time in America where a major political party would virtually pray for our defeat in a war so that they could demonize the leader of the opposition and turn that defeat into victory for them at the polls? Well, you’re seeing just that right now.

There are 47 “Blue Dog” Democrats in the House that may not support a timetable for withdrawal if Gen. Petraeus delivers a positive report. Thus, Democrats will never get their defeatocrat wishes of hasty withdrawal. These right-think Democrats need a word of support.

Kind of says it all right there, don’t you think? The lefties in this country don’t want us to win in Iraq anymore than they wanted us to win in Vietnam - the bastards. They’d be perfectly okay with more American soldiers lost if it would buoy their chances to retake control of Congress and the White House. Control is what it’s all about to those scumbags. They don’t care about our military, they don’t care about the war on terror. They care about controlling our lives … because they know better. Fuck’em!

Have to rethink this…

Posted on August 1, 2007 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

You may have noticed the right sidebar pic and contact for Fred Thompson for President is gone. Reason being, there has been an awful lot of silliness going on recently that have caused me to rethink my support. The last straw was the announcement that contrary to previous statements, he does not support the “FairTax” tax system overhaul. For that matter - neither do Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani - neither of whom I would have supported anyway.

My choices at this point are limited to 2 gentlemen who unfortunately I believe are unelectable … Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter.

Why are they unelectable? Voter name recognition. Both are good men, fiscal conservatives, Federalists. Both have laid it on the line recently to keep the Immigration Reform Bill (sic) from being passed despite strong-arm tactics from the administration. I would vote for either of them if I thought they had half a chance.

Right now … I’m biding my time to see what happens. It is still early in the process.
