The PHONY religion strikes again.

Posted on August 4, 2008 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

The “religion of peace” strikes again. This time it was a pre-Olympics attack of innocent Chinese police officers. When are people going to wake up to the fact that Islamo-terrorists are a threat to the entire world - not just the United States. Their aim - as has been stated repeatedly by people with some common sense - is to convert the entire works to Islam, or kill anyone who refuses. The Q’uran says exactly that in the 9th Sura - look it up. It doesn’t matter if you are Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, or any other affiliation. If you are not a Muslim - you are a target.

This (Islam) is not a Religion of Peace … it’s not even a true religion. It’s a cult based on the mindless rantings of a pedophile claiming to be a Prophet. It is contradictory to itself and has no basis of fact. It and it’s followers are guided by blind hatred of anyone who disagrees with their ill founded belief system. No other “religion” endorses murder for non-believers. No other “religion” claims martyrdom for 16 year olds who blow themselves to pieces to avenge a perceived slight against their “faith”, or to simply murder non-believers. And contrary to what the do-gooders and apologists say … there is no such thing as a “moderate Muslim.” Any Muslim who doesn’t vocally challenge another of his faith who commits murder in it’s name is just as bad as the murderer himself. There is no middle road on this point! We simply have to kill these bastards before they kill us.

Islamists attack Chinese Police

The two men who killed 16 policemen in the Kashgar massacre were today identified as members of an ethic group engaged in a shadowy insurgency in China’s north-western Xinjiang region.

The attackers, aged 28 and 33, were overcome and arrested at the scene and have been confirmed as Uighurs, a predominantly Muslim Turkic people, who make up the majority of Xinjiang’s 20 million population.

Although the official media did not spell it out there appears to be little doubt that they were members of the insurgency seeking to break Xinjiang away from China and establish an independent Islamic state of “East Turkistan”.

The separatist link emerged as the crude audacity of the attack became clear.

Rather than an assault on a police station, as had been initially reported, the men in fact targeted 70 policemen from the paramilitary border patrol service as they were jogging along one of the main streets of Kashgar.

At about 8am, a lorry drove straight into the group, scattering the unarmed patrolmen before crashing into a power cable mast. The attackers jumped out and threw a pair of homemade bombs into the group before attacking the survivors with knives.

Fourteen of the police were killed at the scene, according to the state news agency Xinhua, and two others died on the way to hospital. A further 16 were injured.

Although the two killers were taken away alive, it was essentially a suicide attack – they gave no sign of having a getaway plan and there is no doubt that, after a swift trial, they will be executed.

Okay, this is a treat for ya’ll! About a year ago I linked to the fabulously funny “Dissident Frogman” blog for the purpose of pushing a video he made called “Shooty - no shooty”. This was a spoof of the recent claim by the media that American soldiers - for no reason at all - fired into the home of an Iraqui family. Bastards! Uhhh … not so fast, skippy. In the picture posted in the papers, the Iraqui woman held up 2 cartridges as “proof” of this incident. Only problem is, they were unfired cartridges! One can reasonably assume these experts in the media could not tell the difference between an unfired cartridge, and a bullet - which is what comes out of a cartridge when it is fired. Duh. Hense the video. Absolutely histerical - and it made the Frogmans blog a daily stop for me ever since.

Why bring this up again? Simple - the video is now on YuoTube! (and therefore I can now post it rather than linking!) Seriously … visit this guys blog. Frequently. I guarantee you will not hate this Frenchman.

Operation “Shield of Strength”

Posted on August 4, 2008 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

The Patriot Post (linked) has a program I became involved in in a small way - ordering a dozen tags for friends and myself - that needs and deserves your support. I will just paste in part of the program page and hopefully you can participate. This is a very worthwhile program, folks. If you can help - please do. Not many of us can afford to be a full sponsor, but if you can even order enough tags for family or friends in country - it would be a huge morale booster. I wear my shield every day.

Operation Shield of Strength

“There is a Shield of Strength in the Oval Office…and, aside from the official insignias they wear, it is the emblem most often carried by members of the military in Afghanistan and Iraq.” — Stephan Mansfield, Author, Faith of the American Soldier

“[T]he soldier’s heart, the soldier’s spirit, the soldier’s soul are everything. Unless the soldier’s soul sustains him, he cannot be relied upon and will fail himself, his commander, and his country in the end.” –General of the Army George C. Marshall

Operation Shield of StrengthIt is not “official issue,” but thousands of military personnel are now wearing a “Shield of Strength” dog-tag bearing a Scriptural passage on one side (Joshua 1:9 “I will be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified, or discouraged; for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go.”) and the words “United States of America - One Nation Under God” on the other.

Army Ranger Capt. Russell Rippetoe, murdered at a checkpoint by a homicide bomber, was the first casualty in Operation Iraqi Freedom to be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. His father, retired Lt. Col. Joe Rippetoe (disabled after two tours of duty in Vietnam), reports, “All the men who served with my son wear the shield around their necks, as do many of the elite 75th Rangers.” ()

Marines with SoS TagsArmy Command Sgt. Maj. J. Clay writes from Iraq, “I cannot even begin to count how many soldiers are wearing them. It also has a spiritual camaraderie impact — for example, when you meet another Christian or military member and they have the shield on their ID tags … it bonds you, even though you may not know them.”

Beaumont, Texas native Kenny Vaughan started the campaign to distribute Shields of Strength to military personnel, and we are partnering with Kenny to help identify Patriots with the means to purchase bulk quantities of the SoS tags for distribution to military units of your choosing (or we will identify a unit for you).

More than 1,000,000 Shields have already been distributed. We currently have sponsors for thousands of additional Shield of Strength tags, and are shipping those tags to military personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan and other military fronts. But there are many military units that do not yet have sponsors.

Senator Tom Coburn, M.D.

Posted on August 3, 2008 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

Got this from a new source I’ve been exploring named Reason Online (linked). While the blog leans heavily towards the Libertarian line, the discussions can be curiously tainted by left wing extremism:) Interesting stuff, though. Maybe take a look sometime?

The Obstinate Obstetrician

Sen. Tom Coburn resists the tyranny of good intentions

Jacob Sullum
July 30, 2008

Frustrated by Tom Coburn’s “unprecedented obstructionism,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid cobbled together a “Tomnibus” of 35 bills with “broad—virtually unanimous—bipartisan support” that Coburn had blocked. On Monday the Oklahoma Republican blocked them again.

Unable to muster the 60 votes needed to overcome Coburn’s opposition, Reid castigated the Republicans who had sided with the obstreperous obstetrician.

“You go home and explain to…the next person you see in a wheelchair, ‘I voted against you because Harry Reid was being a tyrannical guy in the Senate,’” the Nevada Democrat said. He also accused the Republicans of voting against victims of stroke, Lou Gehrig’s disease, postpartum depression, and child pornography.

“I have never been a bully,” Reid insisted while caricaturing his opponents as cripple kickers, mother haters, and molester lovers. Perhaps he really believes that, just as he really believes he is anything but “a tyrannical guy.” Spending other people’s money on good causes makes you automatically virtuous, which is part of its appeal. If nothing else, Coburn has shown it is possible to resist the tyranny of good intentions.

“Mr. Coburn’s approach is problematic when it comes to the mechanics of the Senate,” The New York Times explains, “because most of the chamber’s work gets done by what is known as unanimous consent, an agreement among all parties to let a bill pass without a fight.”

In other words, Coburn has the bad manners to demand that the “world’s greatest deliberative body” deliberate.

It’s not hard to see why Reid wants to avoid that. Although he dubbed his spending package the Advancing America’s Priorities Act, the one thing it emphatically does not do is set priorities.

More “global warming” nonsense. Can we possibly escape from this scam?

Three Hotheads

By Larry Thornberry
Published 8/1/2008 12:07:30 AM

With Captain Kirk, Fancy Nancy Pelosi, and John McCain trying to save it, what chance has the planet got?

By now most folks who keep up with such things have heard that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced to an astonished world that she’s “trying to save the planet.” Hardly a modest mission, even for the self-styled most powerful woman on earth.

Fewer heard the announcement that William Shatner, Captain Tiberius Kirk in the fanciful but popular Sixties TV series Star Trek, has signed on with the Sierra Club to help promote that apocalyptic outfit’s “2% Solution Campaign.” This fool’s errand calls on Americans to cut carbon emissions two percent each year by such string-saving measures as changing out our homes’ windows, using compact fluorescent light bulbs, and not exhaling.

Soon we will see television “public service announcements” where an older, plumper Captain Kirk, in civilian clothes, will nag us to live as Al Gore would have us live (as opposed to how Al Gore in fact lives). Somebody please beam this guy somewhere.

If we do all these things, plus badger our government officials to adopt Soviet-style restrictions on the use of carbon-based fuels, we could cut our carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050. This, according to global warming co-religionists, would make life on Earth safe, at least until the next apocalyptic threat to our very existence that environmentalists invent.

Who can keep up with all the world-ending threats? There was the so-called population explosion, death by pesticides, acid rain, the hole in the ozone layer, nuclear winter, global cooling, and now, the most audacious and successful hustle of all, global warming.

“Sorry - we’re on vacation”

Posted on August 2, 2008 | Filed Under In My Opinion...

So in the midst of an energy crisis that directly affects the security of our country, Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Socialists decide to shut down the People’s House for their annual FIVE WEEK vacation. No action of demands to change the laws on offshore drilling or drilling in ANWAR. Nothing done to help the US reduce its dependency on foreign oil from governments that despise us and hold us ransom to their demands. Oh wait - they want us to use WIND power and ALCOHOL fuel instead. Yeah - that’ll work.

These morons - more accurately traitors - apparently don’t listen to experts who tell them that even if the ENTIRE production of corn was dedicated to the distillation of methanol (grain alcohol), we would still fall short of requirements by some 30%, and that doesn’t figure in the ridiculous increase in food prices (already evident) due to the shortage of feed grain for cattle, etc. Food prices have already - with only a small percentage of grain being used for methanol production - gone through the roof in the highest quarterly increase in 15 years, and go higher almost weekly.

It should be abundantly clear to anyone with an IQ over room temperature that the Democrats don’t WANT us to be oil independant. They are trying to use this issue to crush our system of capitalism and bring about what they have wanted for years - the destruction of our economy as a way to regain power in all branches of government. They haven’t quite gotten their way via the leftist courts ruling by fiat, so they are using this tactic. Scumbags.

But the Republicans and Conservatives aren’t letting go of this and have remained on the floor of the House despite attempts by the Democrats to silence them by turning off the lights, cameras, and sound devices - which as the party in control they have access to.

What is this, Russia?

I am usually supportive of the administrations attempts to prevent further acts of terrorism within the United States, but I’d like to know What the FUCK justifies this garbage. Did “We the People” somehow surrender all our rights to this bunch of morons at DHS? Did the 4th and 14th Amendments suddenly disappear from the Bill of Rights? This asshole Chertoff decides that for no reason at all, the private personal property of US citizens can be taken from them, searched, have any information gathered shared with ANY person or group, and be returned (maybe) when they are damned good and ready to do so, and hopefully in operating order.

Let me get this straight … I travel to visit relatives in England. I take with me my laptop and cellphone to keep in touch with my family at home. I return home and these fucking “square badges” from TSA decide - for absolutely no reason and without either my consent, a warrant, or reasonable suspicion - to take possession of my private property, in which I have personal records, private medical and financial information, and whatever else I choose to keep there. Are you fucking kidding me? These TSA assholes are mostly school dropouts or got their jobs via patronage, and I’m supposed to trust them with my personal information? And in the meantime, a group of Arabs can cause a disturbance and get on a flight to anywhere and not be investigated?

Tell you what, TSA … go fuck yourselves (collectively). This is still America!

Travelers’ Laptops May Be Detained At Border

No Suspicion Required Under DHS Policies

By Ellen Nakashima
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, August 1, 2008; Page A01

Federal agents may take a traveler’s laptop or other electronic device to an off-site location for an unspecified period of time without any suspicion of wrongdoing, as part of border search policies the Department of Homeland Security recently disclosed.

Also, officials may share copies of the laptop’s contents with other agencies and private entities for language translation, data decryption or other reasons, according to the policies, dated July 16 and issued by two DHS agencies, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

DHS officials said that the newly disclosed policies — which apply to anyone entering the country, including U.S. citizens — are reasonable and necessary to prevent terrorism. Officials said such procedures have long been in place but were disclosed last month because of public interest in the matter.

Civil liberties and business travel groups have pressed the government to disclose its procedures as an increasing number of international travelers have reported that their laptops, cellphones and other digital devices have been taken — for months, in at least one case — and their contents examined.

The policies state that officers may “detain” laptops “for a reasonable period of time” to “review and analyze information.” This may take place “absent individualized suspicion.”

The policies cover “any device capable of storing information in digital or analog form,” including hard drives, flash drives, cell phones, iPods, pagers, beepers, and video and audio tapes. They also cover “all papers and other written documentation,” including books, pamphlets and “written materials commonly referred to as ‘pocket trash’ or ‘pocket litter.’ “

This clown Obama just never stops. His latest bit of self-aggrandizement , self-worship, ego-stroking comes to you via a terrific video from John McCain. Guess what … Obama doesn’t like it one bit. Isn’t that too bad? I guess there is too much truth in it to suit the “Chosen One”. Listen to this collection of Obama’s bullshit and tell me his ego is his most formidable resume. Remember - all this in just 145 days of work as a US Senator. 145 days!

Obama’s ‘emergency’ economic plan

8/1/08 9:38 AM EST

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) on Friday announced an “Emergency Economic Plan” that would give families a stimulus check of $1,000 each, funded in part by what his presidential campaign calls “windfall profits from Big Oil.” (there’s that MARXIST/Socialist agenda again!)

Details are in this six-page policy paper.

The first part of Obama’s plan is an emergency energy rebate ($500 to individual workers, $1,000 to families) as soon as this fall.

“This rebate will be enough to offset the increased cost of gas for a working family over the next four months,” Obama said. “Or, if you live in a state where it gets very cold in the winter, it will be enough to cover the entire increase in your heating bills. Or you could use the rebate for any of your other bills or even to pay down debt”

Separately, Obama’s plan includes a $50 billion stimulus package that his campaign claims would save more than 1 million jobs.

Half of the money would go to state governments, which are facing big budget shortfalls, and half would be used for national infrastructure, including replenishing the Highway Trust Fund, rebuilding roads and bridges, and repairing schools.

Obama announced his plan 27 minutes after a Labor Department report showed unemployment hit a four-year high of 5.7 percent in July — the highest rate since March 2004, when it was 5.8 percent.

“We need to do more,” Obama said in a statement. “That’s why today I’m announcing a two-part emergency plan to help struggling families make ends meet and get our economy back on track.”

McCain reacted to the surprisingly dour jobs report with a two-paragraph statement:

“Across this country, Americans are hurting and today’s job numbers are just the latest reminder of the economic challenges we face. … Unlike Sen. Obama, I do not believe that raising taxes is the answer to our economic problems. There is no surer way to force jobs overseas than to raise taxes on businesses.”

John Edwards - cheater.

Can we assume that John “Is my hair okay?” Edwards is now off Obama’s short list for the VP spot? It’s safe to say Ann Coulter thinks so.

A Baby Daddy for Both Americas

by Ann Coulter

The mainstream media really seem to imagine they can prevent Americans from knowing information by refusing to mention it in newspapers or on TV.

For those few Americans without an Internet connection and to whom I have not faxed the National Enquirer stories: Evidence is accumulating that John Edwards is right — there really are “two Americas.” There’s one where men cheat on their cancer-stricken wives and one where men do not cheat on their cancer-stricken wives.

To put it another way, it would appear that ambulances aren’t the only things John Edwards has been chasing lately.

Last year, the National Enquirer broke the story about New-Age divorcee Rielle Hunter, formerly Lisa Druck, telling friends she was having an affair with Edwards and that she was pregnant with his “love child.”

Who knew that “my father was a mill worker” could be such a great pickup line? In his defense, Edwards had to do something to kill time between giving $50,000 speeches on poverty.

I guess the Enquirer is lucky Edwards isn’t a trial lawyer! A sleazy carnival sideshow trial lawyer wouldn’t even need to start channeling unborn children before a jury — as Edwards did in the junk-science cases that made him a multimillionaire — to win a defamation case if these charges are false. The “love child” allegation could be easily disproved by DNA testing.

Which brings up a fascinating legal question: Would it be admissible for Edwards to channel the very love child at issue during such a proceeding? Reminiscent of his performances in medical malpractice cases, he could say: She speaks to you through me and I have to tell you right now — I didn’t plan to talk about this — right now I feel her. I feel her presence. She’s inside me, and she’s talking to you, she’s saying: “John Edwards ain’t my daddy!”

When the National Enquirer story first broke last year, the Edwards campaign denied that Edwards was the father, pawning the affair off on an apparently very loyal Edwards campaign official, Andrew Young. Like Edwards, Young was married with children, but also like Edwards, Young is a Democrat, so it was possible.

Articles of note

Obviously, I am not alone in my judgement of Obama as a Socialist of the highest order. More accurately, I state without reservation that he is more closely a Marxist, than a mere Socialist. We have plenty of them in the Democrat Party - they just choose to refute the title. Make no mistake - if Obama wins the election, the working, productive classes are going to be in for a world of hurt.

Barack Obama’s Stealth Socialism

The Audacity Of Socialism

Posted Monday, July 28, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election ‘08: Before friendly audiences, Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called “economic justice.” He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code — socialist code.

During his NAACP speech earlier this month, Sen. Obama repeated the term at least four times. “I’ve been working my entire adult life to help build an America where economic justice is being served,” he said at the group’s 99th annual convention in Cincinnati.

Democrat Barack Obama arrives in Washington on Monday. On the campaign trail, Obama has styled himself a centrist. But a look at those who’ve served as his advisers and mentors over the years shows a far more left-leaning tilt to his background — and to his politics.

And as president, “we’ll ensure that economic justice is served,” he asserted. “That’s what this election is about.” Obama never spelled out the meaning of the term, but he didn’t have to. His audience knew what he meant, judging from its thumping approval.

It’s the rest of the public that remains in the dark, which is why we’re launching this special educational series.

“Economic justice” simply means punishing the successful and redistributing their wealth by government fiat. It’s a euphemism for socialism.

In the past, such rhetoric was just that — rhetoric. But Obama’s positioning himself with alarming stealth to put that rhetoric into action on a scale not seen since the birth of the welfare state.

Obama’s Global Tax

Posted Tuesday, July 29, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election ‘08: A plan by Barack Obama to redistribute American wealth on a global level is moving forward in the Senate. It follows Marxist theology — from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

“We are citizens of the world,” Sen. Obama told thousands of nonvoting Germans during his recent tour of the Middle East and Europe. And if the Global Poverty Act (S. 2433) he has sponsored becomes law, which is almost certain if he wins in November, we’re also going to be taxpayers of the world.

Speaking in Berlin, Obama said:

“While the 20th century taught us that we share a common destiny, the 21st has revealed a world more intertwined than at any time in human history.”

What the 20th century really showed was a series of totalitarian threats — from fascism to Nazism to communism — defeated by the U.S. military. Hitler’s Germany, Mussolini’s Italy, Tojo’s Japan and the Soviet Union offered destinies we did not share.

Our destiny of peace and freedom through strength was not achieved by a transnationalist fantasy of buying the world a Coke and singing “Kumbaya.”

Obama’s Global Poverty Act offers us a global socialist destiny we do not want, one that challenges America’s very sovereignty. The former “post-racial” candidate obviously intends to be a post-national president.

A statement from Obama’s office says:

“With billions of people living on just dollars a day around the world, global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges and tragedies the international community faces. It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter and clean drinking water.”

This has got to be a joke.

Reparations for Al Qaeda

Does Barack Obama believe it’s time for America to apologize to al Qaeda?

By Jeffrey Lord
Published 7/29/2008 12:08:14 AM

Does he share the increasingly vocal calls of his fellow liberals that Americans should not just apologize to Osama and his followers but pay reparations as well? Having cited the U.S. treatment of Nazis, does he now believe the U.S. government should be subjected to a class action suit by his trial lawyer allies on behalf of any surviving Nazi soldiers or their descendants?

You think I’m joking, right? Wrong.

The push has begun among Obama’s fellow-liberals for reparations to Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda warriors. Look no further than the Los Angeles Times of the new book by liberal journalist Jane Mayer, The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned Into a War on American Ideals. Mayer’s indictment of the Bush administration’s fight against terrorism has predictably received glowing reviews from the gatekeepers of liberalism, including a July 15th review from Times staff writer Tim Rutten.

In wonderfully liberal style that is beyond parody, Rutten uses a book review to endorse the idea of paying money to Osama’s fighters who, in the eyes of liberals, have been denied their “right” of habeas corpus at Guantanamo. The denial of habeas to non-Americans captured on foreign battlefields is, of course, also a major campaign point for Senator Obama. Obama, restating his long-held position about captured al Qaeda fighters having the right of habeas corpus, was prompted by the recent 5-4 Supreme Court decision in Boumediene v. Bush. The liberals on the Court, with the mind-boggling addition of Reagan appointee Anthony Kennedy, held that contrary to Bush administration and congressional policy, not to mention all of American history, the prisoners of war or “detainees” picked up off the battlefields (in this case Afghanistan and Iraq) are in fact entitled to the same constitutional rights as American citizens.

Within weeks of this Obama-approved decision, his allies in liberalism have now started lobbying not simply for habeas corpus rights for al Qaeda but reparations as well. They believe American taxpayers should pay monetary damages to bin Laden terrorists, with Mr. Rutten of the Times approvingly citing the liberal editors of the Jesuit magazine America: The National Catholic Weekly. In their July 21st issue these presumed Obama supporters :

How about having some cute Air Farce chickies for Flight Attendants? Maybe a bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothshield with your Chateau Briand for lunch?

Terrorism Funds May Let Brass Fly in Style

Luxury Pods for Air Force Debated

R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, July 18, 2008

An Air Force document specified that the capsule’s seats are to swivel such that “the longitudinal axis of the seat is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft” regardless of where the capsules are facing.

The Air Force’s new capsules, which will fit in large aircraft, are meant to ensure that senior military officers and civilian leaders can travel in comfort.

The Air Force’s top leadership sought for three years to spend counterterrorism funds on “comfort capsules” to be installed on military planes that ferry senior officers and civilian leaders around the world, with at least four top generals involved in design details such as the color of the capsules’ carpet and leather chairs, according to internal e-mails and budget documents.

Production of the first capsule — consisting of two sealed rooms that can fit into the fuselage of a large military aircraft — has already begun.

Air Force officials say the government needs the new capsules to ensure that leaders can talk, work and rest comfortably in the air. But the top brass’s preoccupation with creating new luxury in wartime has alienated lower-ranking Air Force officers familiar with the effort, as well as congressional staff members and a nonprofit group that calls the program a waste of money.

Sheehan: US political leadership corrupt

Sat, 26 Jul 2008 06:25:11

Cindy Sheehan icon of the global anti war movement, says that US leadership has been corrupted by not opposing Bush’s polices on the Iraq war and torture.

In an exclusive interview with a (Iranian) Press Tv correspondent Cindy Sheehan criticized the Democratic dominated congress for not impeaching President Bush for waging a war with Iraq based on lies.

Sheehan also said that since she started her protest against the war in 2005, American public opinion has drastically changed; Bush’s approval rating is now at its lowest since Iraq’s invasion.

When Sheehan was asked about Iran’s nuclear issues, she replied that Iran is a sovereign country that is entitled to peaceful nuclear energy for civilian purpose, whereas US and Israel are countries in possession of nuclear arsenals.

Sheehan’s son, Casey was killed during his service in Iraq. She attracted international attention in August 2005 for her permanent demonstration at a camp outside of Bush’s Texas ranch. In May 2007, Sheehan officially ended her involvement as an anti-war activist.

On July of 2007 after President Bush’s commuted the sentence of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff Scooter Libby, Sheehan announced that she plans to challenge speaker Nancy Pelosi as an independent, because Pelosi pointedly failed to introduce articles of impeachment against President Bush.

Bill Russell: The man who could topple John Murtha

By Michelle Malkin
July 23, 2008 08:18 AM

My syndicated column today spotlights the upstart candidacy of Republican newcomer Bill Russell, who is challenging corruptocrat John Murtha in Pennsylvania. I’ve been writing about Bill since and told you about seeing him at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, where he was warmly received by the conservative grass-roots. Last week’s second quarter fundraising reports brought amazing news: Russell outraised Murtha 6 –despite not being able to actively campaign while he complete his military service (Russell is on active duty until Aug. 1). This is a miraculous counterinsurgent campaign–and an opportunity for conservative bloggers to make a difference. Campaign manager Peg Luksik told me that readers of this blog helped raised thousands of dollars for Russell when I linked his campaign page last month. As I told the RightOnline convention in Austin over the weekend, Russell is shattering the MSM narrative that the entrenched Murtha is unbeatable. And he is relying on the Internet to spread the word when he hits the great wall of MSM silence. Join the and help effect real change!

Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world.”Barack Obama on “the bomb” dropped on Pearl Harbor

Keen sense of the obvious: “Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s.”Barack Obama
**Thanks for clearing that up.

“The idea that four months before a presidential election a candidate can run through these countries, meet some world leaders, and claim experience in these matters may impress the liberal media, but to me, it exposes just how unprepared for the presidency this guy is… I have never seen a presidential candidate with less to offer this nation—yet with more arrogance and self-delusion—than Barack Obama.”Rush Limbaugh

“I think that the coverage [Barack Obama] is getting is beyond presidential. It’s papal. I mean, a president never has all three anchors on the way with him… If you needed any evidence of how much in the tank the mainstream media are, this is it.”Charles Krauthammer

“Obama’s self-deprecation was his most charming bit, but lately he is, well, less charming. He and his wife seem more like a finger-wagging principal and teacher tag team, with Michelle Obama promising that her husband will make us work harder when he becomes president. You get the feeling that should the Obamas take over, we’ll all be staying after school. They used to call that detention.” —Kathleen Parker

“The real American dream is not found in having a government that helps you pay for your home, your health care and your retirement. It is found in taking care of those things yourself, as a free and independent person.”Terence Jeffrey

“Americans are beginning to notice Obama’s elevated opinion of himself. There’s nothing new about narcissism in politics. Every senator looks in the mirror and sees a president. Nonetheless, has there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements? Obama is a three-year senator without a single important legislative achievement to his name, a former Illinois state senator who voted ‘present’ nearly 130 times. As president of the Harvard Law Review, as law professor and as legislator, has he ever produced a single notable piece of scholarship? Written a single memorable article? His most memorable work is a biography of his favorite subject: himself. It is a subject upon which he can dilate effortlessly. In his victory speech upon winning the nomination, Obama declared it a great turning point in history—’generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment’ —when, among other wonders, ‘the rise of the oceans began to slow.’ As economist Irwin Stelzer noted in his London Daily Telegraph column, ‘Moses made the waters recede, but he had help.’ Obama apparently works alone.”Charles Krauthammer

An idiot stuck on stupid: “Since the first oil crisis back in the early ‘70s, we’ve been told that if we simply go for more oil, gasoline prices will come down. We need to break free of this old pattern that’s holding us back and develop the renewable sources that can bring about the equivalent of a dollar a gallon gasoline.” —Al Gore Break Supply and demand: “It is only a truly dysfunctional system that would buy into the perverse logic that the short-term answer to high gasoline prices is drilling for more oil 10 years from now.” —Al Gore, an expert in perverse logic Break “If you look at the seriousness of the climate crisis, you see how it ties to the economic crisis and the national security threat that we face.” —Al Gore Break Say that again: “General Sherman famously said, ‘If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve.’ I already ran—I, I, I’m not running for the—I didn’t run for the nomination, and I’ve already been elected and didn’t serve.”Algore

“For the first few months of the campaign, the question about Obama was: Who is he? The question now is: Who does he think he is? We are getting to know. Redeemer of our uninvolved, uninformed lives. Lord of the seas. And more.”Charles Krauthammer

“Obama’s record is like floor wax: all shine and no depth.”Cal Thomas

“The press has been endlessly dazzled with the prowess and the promise of the Barack Obama campaign. Observers of these quivering scribes have to wonder if they don’t collapse from exhaustion at the end of the day from all the involuntary spine tingling and shortness of breath over Obama’s inspirational aura.”Brent Bozell

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recommended oil drilling in already-explored Alaska leaseholds Tuesday. She won’t yield on offshore or wildlife preserves. The Democrats are not opposed to drilling, they are just opposed to drilling in areas that have oil.”Argus Hamilton

“Those who advocate redefining marriage are saying that every religious and secular tradition is immoral. They have no problem doing this because they believe they are wiser and finer people than all the greatest Jewish, Christian and humanist thinkers who ever lived. But as objectionable as hubris is, false comparisons are worse. And there is no comparison between different races and the different genders. There are no inherent racial differences; there are significant differences between the sexes. To the extent that racial groups are different, they are only because their cultures differ. But a black man’s nature is not different from that of a white man, an Asian man, an Hispanic man… Comparing the prohibition of same-sex marriage to prohibiting interracial marriage is ultimately a way of declaring the moral superiority of proponents of same-sex marriage to proponents of keeping marriage defined as man-woman. And it is a way of avoiding hard issues such as whether we really want all children to grow up thinking it doesn’t matter if they marry a boy or a girl and whether we really want to abolish forever the ideal of husband-wife based family. Those who wish to redefine marriage for the first time in Jewish, Christian or secular humanist history may offer any honest arguments they wish. Comparing the prohibition of same-sex marriage to prohibiting interracial marriage is not one of them.”Dennis Prager

Islam is a VICTIM?

You’re shitting me. The “PC” machine is alive and well in the UK. That is nothing new, if you read what has been going on over there. Not that it’s much better in the states, but jeez - now they are “victims.”

The attached video is by a guy (Brit) named Pat Condell. He does a number of video blogs via YouTube and has become something of folk hero among working class Brits. An unabashed atheist who frequently is the subject of blistering tirades by so-called “Christians” (I use the word advisedly) who consider his calls to abolish ANY religion as part of a government platform. This time he takes on Islam. Typically - it’s a hoot:)

Hoist by their own petard!

This is just too good to let go. I mean really … don’t ya just love it when the lefties get trapped by their own words and actions? Just when you start thinking - as I’ve done many times in the last few months - that things are too bad to get worse, we have this little video of a lefty Democrat being utterly humiliated by his own writing by his Republican challenger, Bob Schaeffer. The lefty? One Mark Udall. Oh, and give a listen to the Udall supporters. Eye opening.

“We don’t like it”, so …

… we can disregard it. So says the political hacks running things in the District of Columbia. Typical of lefties, eh? They don’t think citizens should have guns - under ANY circumstance - so they choose to ignore a ruling of the Supreme Court and continue on as if the ruling was never made. Not that the ruling clearly ended the debate, mind you - it was only a half-assed ruling which on its face did nothing but cloud the issue even further than it was pre ruling. The only thing established was that the 2nd. Amendments language citing “the people”, did in fact relate to ALL the people as an “individual right”, rather than the leftists favorite “militia” language.

This is clearly a tactic the left has used time and time again. The Democrat Party lawyers took the Bush-Gore election to the courts - not Mr. Bush, as they’d have people believe. So the court had no choice but to rule on the Constitutionality of the Democrats position demanding a recount of selected Florida precincts. The operative word here is “selected”. And that was the issue on which the Court based its decision - that selectively choosing certain precincts in which heavily Democratic voters were for some reason incapable of punching a ballot properly (keeping in mind that the Florida Democrat party demanded that particular type of ballot) was in fact UN-Constitutional because it unfairly skewed a result to a favored position. Keep in mind also that Florida was one of the states that challenged virtually every military mail in ballot, and didn’t count any of them. That was another factor in the Courts decision - that if there was to be a recount, then ALL precincts and ALL absentee ballots would have to be counted. The reason the Democrats didn’t want that should be obvious - there were thousands of military absentee ballots to be counted, and it’s not a stretch to believe that the vast majority of those votes would have gone to Mr. Bush, as in past elections they have gone to whoever the Republican candidate might be. Servicemen rarely, it has been noted, ever vote for the democrat candidate. Wonder why that is? Strictly a rhetorical question - never mind.

Anyway - we all know what kind of tirades that decision precipitated. The “Bush Derangement Syndrome” took off and hasn’t let up during the last 7 1/2 years of this administration. The Democrats caused the problem, and they then chose to ignore it, saying “Bush STOLE the election”, or “the Supreme Court gave the election to Bush!” Yes, of course they ruled in his favor, because the Democrats position and legal standing was preposterous!

Oh, the lefties just loved the decisions that went their twisted way, didn’t they? In those cases, by the “slimmest of majorities” in their favor everything was just peachy. The Republicans and mostly those nasty Conservatives had to “respect the majority opinion of the highest court in the land, whose decisions reflect the unassailable legal bonifides of the Justices.” Editors note: That’s called sarcasm, folks.

For example, the Miranda decision, Rowe v Wade, the recent decision to extend Constitutional guarantees to terrorists, and so on. It’s always the same story - if we agree the Court is great, if we disagree, the Court is wrong wrong wrong! (foot stamping can be imagined in the background, like petulant kids)

So their single minded reaction to the recent Heller v DC decision should have been expected. That is their way.

DC Flouts Supreme Court on Guns, as Washington Post Advised

by Kristen Fyfe

The Washington D.C. City Council has created so many hoops for handgun owners to jump through before they can exercise their Second Amendment rights, they may require legal counsel just to identify what the hoops are. This sorry state of affairs is much to the satisfaction of The Washington Post, which called for just such an obstructionist policy in an editorial.

At least one of those hoops is illegal, according to the Supreme Court, but a Post news story spun that fact as the opinion of “opponents of the handgun ban.” Is editorial policy coloring the news?

The Washington Post is no fan of the Supreme Court’s recently rendered Heller vs. D.C. decision. Last month when the nation’s highest court told Washington D.C. that its gun ban violated the Second Amendment of the Constitution, a Post editorial called the decision a “misguided ruling.” The Post opined that the District’s mayor and council would be on “solid moral and legal ground” if they re-crafted the District’s gun control laws to make them “as tough as possible” under the Supreme Court’s “puzzling mandate.”

Fast forward 21 days. The July 18 edition of the paper carried a story about the first day of gun registration in the District in which only one person applied for a license. That person was not Dick Heller, the man whose case went to the Supreme Court. In fact, Mr. Heller did show up to apply for his now legal license, but because he did not have his gun with him he could not register it.(It was DENIED this week, by the way)
According to the Post this misunderstanding didn’t irk Mr. Heller. What did irk Mr. Heller was the “strict storage requirements” mandated by the newly revised D.C. gun laws.

But Heller and von Breichenruchardt angrily criticized the city over other aspects of the handgun ownership and registration process, outlined in emergency legislation approved this week by the D.C. Council and Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D).

The new law includes strict storage requirements that opponents of the handgun ban say violate the Supreme Court ruling. Gun owners must keep their pistols at home, unloaded and either disassembled or equipped with trigger locks. Weapons can be loaded and used only if the owner reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger from an attacker in the home.

Note the spin. The Washington Post indicates that it is a matter of opinion whether the storage restrictions violate the high court’s ruling.

It’s not opinion. It’s fact. Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, stated,

“In sum, we hold that the District’s ban on handgun possession in the home violates the Second Amendment, as does its prohibition against rendering any lawful firearm in the home operable for the purpose of immediate self-defense.”

It is clear that the D.C. restrictions requiring the gun to be “unloaded and either disassembled or equipped with trigger locks” render the gun inoperable for the purpose of immediate self-defense.
